Drukair has signed memorandum with Changi Airport to start its direct flight between Singapore and Bhutan on 17th May 2012. Drukair is currently planning to fly to Singapore twice a week. Commencement of direct flight is postponed to September as of 3rd February 2012.

On 19th Dec 2011, Drukair begins operating the domestic routes from Paro to Bumthang (Central Bhutan) and Yonphula (Eastern Bhutan).
This service will significantly save travellers whom wish to explore the span of East-West Bhutan up to 3 days of driving time. The total time required to reach the eastern most airport of Yonphula, which is about an hours drive to Trashigang is only 2.5 hours giving Drukair time to pick up and drop off travellers in Bumthang.

There is currently no direct flight between Sydney and Bhutan. Travelers from Sydney can fly to Singapore to take a flight to Paro, Bhutan. This is currently the most convenient way to enter Bhutan. There are 3 weekly flights between Singapore and Bhutan beginning of 27th May 2013.
