We thoroughly enjoyed the itinerary you recommended for our short week in Bhutan. How we wish we stayed on despite the freezing cold, especially in Phobjika Valley. However, that’s the one place I found truly inspiring because of her vastness and serenity. We loved Punakha for her splendid temple and we felt a great sense of achievement hiking up the Taktsang Monastery, even though it took us a little over 6 hours in all.

Our guide, Ugyen Tshewang and driver, Tshering were most accommodating to our needs. Ugyen deserves mention for his attentiveness and concern towards my 11-year old daughter when she felt queasy during our ride to Punakha. My daughter says she adopted an ‘uncle’ in Bhutan because of his caring ways. He would go the extra mile to order fried eggs for our every meal, stir our drinks and carry all our stuff. He even got his family to secure seats for us at the stadium during the National Day celebrations.

I was deeply touched by the surprise birthday celebration at the Metta Resort that was devilishly devised by my dearest sister and daughter together with Ugyen and Tshering. They had a lot of fun planning it and even bought me very meaningful gifts of a painting of four friends and a scarf each. I truly appreciate these efforts!

Hopefully our next visit to Bhutan would include the Haa Valley and Bumthang. Of course, I would book through Druk Asia if they can assign Ugyen and Tshering to us again. We had a fabulous journey!
