Bhutan has made an impression
Dear Sonam,
The Bhutan trip was enlightening to my sister and I. To say that your country is the last Shangri la and that your people are the happiness people in the world is probably an understatement.
We were most impressed by the hospitality shown by the Bhutanese, especially the children who were so welcoming. Actually, we have been impressed since deciding to go with Druk Asia. Your prompt responses and your efficiency in helping us get all our tickets, hotels and visa sorted out has made our trip fuss free. We travel a lot and this is the first trip that we have arranged without as much as a trip down to the travel agency. We certainly will be recommending you and Druk Asia to our family and friends.
I also need to commend on the services provided by our guide, Tobden Barwa. He was flexible and was able to recommend what we should do based on our physical ability, which I have to say rather embarrassingly, was rather limited. We did not manage to get up to Tiger Nest Monastery as we were aching so badly by the last day so he proposed a picnic near Chelela pass instead, which I have to say was quite a highlight. Thereafter, Tobden and our guide, Tashi, brought us to one of the road side sheds where the Indian road workers live, and the uneaten food was given to them. It made the picnic and trip to Bhutan extra special as it allowed us to see what we would not have normally seen. Druk Asia may want to consider including this in the itinerary for those who can't make it up to Tiger Nest Monastery.
The only issue that we faced was at Metta Hotel at Paro. It was rather cold the first night we were there and there was no electricity early that morning so the room was very cold. The toilet lights were also malfunctioning; kept flickering. Metta Hotel did try their best to accommodate us by putting in a second heater in the bathroom but I was just wondering if given the colder temperature at Paro, and the stand along structure of the rooms at Metta, if it is wise to put your guests at Metta during the colder months of the year.
Bhutan has made an impression on us, we will be recommending Bhutan as a holiday destination and Druk Asia as the travel agent. We firmly believe that everyone should make a trip to Bhutan at least once in their lifetime.
