The main purpose of this 10-day journey was to embark on a pilgrimage to Guru Padmasambhava.
In recent years, I’ve traveled less, having grown weary of constant trips. Yet, this visit to Bhutan was a spontaneous decision. Looking back, everything unfolded perfectly—especially since the final day of my trip coincided with the annual opening of Guru Rinpoche’s meditation cave. What incredible luck!
I was assigned a guide, Tepe, and a driver, Dechen. I feel truly fortunate to have spent these 10 days under their attentive care. Tepe’s detailed explanations of Bhutan’s ancient fortresses, Buddhist temples, and cultural history deepened my appreciation for the country’s invaluable heritage. As for Dechen, his driving skills were impeccable—even during the rainy season on winding mountain roads, I always felt safe. I highly recommend this outstanding duo!
I was also deeply moved by the harmony between humans and nature in Bhutan. Amid development, the country wisely prioritizes environmental protection, setting a remarkable example for the world. I would absolutely love to visit Bhutan again next year at the same time—visit Drakarpo Kora and returning to Bumthang of course Taktsang. Until we meet again!
