Unforgettable Bhutanese Sojourn

Attached are some "foggy" photos taken at the Dochula Druk Wangyal Tshechu. We were told that photos of the King cannot be published without his permission so this is exclusively for Druk Asia Singapore staff only!

It was the 2nd day of our trip and we were eagerly anticipating the chance to see how a Bhutanese festival is.

You cannot imagine our delight when we saw His Majesty King Jigme Khesar Wangchuck, his new bride, the Queen and the fourth Druk Gyalpo in attendance. We sat 4 hours in the cold to watch the whole proceedings and were rewarded with the opportunity of a lifetime to see His Majesty up close (he was less than 5 metres away and even smiled at us!) and dance!

The mountain top was surrounded by mystical mist and it was freezing cold there but the warmth of the Bhutanese people were amazing. We were especially touched when our guide, Kezang, walked to the Dochula break-stop and back (because the parked cars made it impossible for Tenzin, our driver to get around) to borrow some blankets to keep us warm and cardboard carton for us to sit on.

There are a lot more wonderful tales to tell but I have to stop here.
