Return to Paro Valley, a region steeped in history and surrounded by majestic mountains. Visit Paro Dzong (Rinpung Dzong), a commanding 15th-century fortress that still functions as the administrative centre of the district. Continue to Ta Dzong, a former watchtower turned National Museum, home to antique Thangkas, weapons, textiles, and historical artefacts that offer insight into Bhutan’s storied past. Gaze up at the glacier-capped peak of Mount Jomolhari (7,300m), whose meltwaters feed the lifeblood of the valley—the Pa Chhu River.
