Preparing your journey…
5 Nights | Thimphu & Paro
The tiny Buddhist Kingdom of Bhutan awaits, nestled high in the Himalayas where centuries of isolation have shaped a culture deeply rooted in tradition, spirituality and the quiet guidance of a benevolent monarchy. Here, dramatic landscapes unfold in pristine beauty — snow-capped peaks, dense forested slopes and boulder-strewn rivers remain largely untouched, protected by strong environmental values and enduring religious beliefs that honour harmony with nature.
This thoughtfully curated journey invites you into the heart of the kingdom, where you’ll encounter charming farmers, skilled weavers, contemplative monks and the living traditions that define Bhutanese life. Throughout the journey, you stay at Amankora Lodges in Paro and Thimphu, Bhutan’s most refined luxury sanctuary, where contemporary elegance is seamlessly woven with Bhutanese architecture, serene settings and deeply personalised service.
All our tours are fully customisable — the itineraries you see are simply a starting point. We'll work closely with you to tailor every detail.

2 Thimphu Valley & Monastic Traditions
This morning, explore the northern reaches of the Thimphu Valley with a visit to Tashichho Dzong, the impressive seat of Bhutan’s government and royal offices. Continue to Pangri Zampa, a pair of 16th-century buildings that now house Bhutan’s traditional astrological training school, offering a fascinating insight into the spiritual sciences still practised today.
For those wishing to stretch their legs, a short hike leads to Cheri Goemba, the monastery where Bhutan’s first monastic body was established. Later, return to town to visit cottage industries specialising in traditional paper-making and hand-rolled incense, preserving crafts passed down through generations.

3 Thimphu to Paro – Dzongs & Heritage
After breakfast, travel westward to the Paro Valley. Begin your exploration with a visit to the National Museum, housed within the circular Ta Dzong watchtower, where a thoughtfully curated collection offers a rich introduction to Bhutanese history, art and beliefs.
A short walk downhill brings you to the commanding Paro Dzong, one of Bhutan’s finest architectural masterpieces. Cross the traditional cantilever bridge Nyamai Zampa before driving to a 16th-century town temple, renowned for its beautifully preserved wall paintings that reflect Bhutan’s deep spiritual heritage.

4 Paro Valley – Culture or Countryside Walks
Today offers flexibility based on your interests. For deeper cultural immersion, visits can be arranged to Kyichu Lhakhang, one of Bhutan’s oldest temples, Dumtse Lhakhang, or the altar room of Drukgyel Dzong, set against the dramatic backdrop of Mount Jomolhari.
For those drawn to nature, a scenic walking trail begins behind the lodge, passing Drukgyel Dzong and following the Paro Chhu River. Cross a suspension bridge and continue through terraced farmland and forested paths before looping back across a second bridge and returning gently to the lodge.

5 Tiger’s Nest Pilgrimage & Spa Indulgence
Today marks a spiritual highlight with a pilgrimage to Taktsang Goemba, famously known as the Tiger’s Nest Monastery. Perched dramatically on a cliff face 900 metres above the valley floor, this sacred site is one of Bhutan’s most revered landmarks.
The four to five-hour trek unfolds along forested trails with ever-changing views of the monastery. Mules and donkeys are available to assist those who wish to reduce the physical exertion, and a picnic lunch is served en route. After returning to the valley, the remainder of the day is at leisure — the perfect opportunity to unwind at the Amankora spa and soothe tired muscles after this unforgettable ascent.
