Having meals outdoor with the cows and horses

Hi Sonam,

We had a good 14D trip experiencing the awesome landscapes, stunning monasteries and fresh cold mountain air of west & central Bhutan.

Karma, our guide, was very professional in discharging his duties from our day of arrival to our day of departure. He could answer any question that we asked. When trekking, he ensured our safety and conveniences. Our driver was also very courteous and helpful. He drove very carefully through the winding yet at times, muddy and slippery, roads of the high mountains outside the cities.

On the 3D2N Gangtey to Wangdue Trek, I particularly enjoyed our meals outdoors with the cows and horses grazing in the background, and having hot coffee & biscuits in the high passes. For the 2D1N Bumdra Trek, we had our meals at 4,100m with the yaks instead.

Although the treks were sometimes muddy and difficult to walk, the lush green forest rich with yellow and green moss made up for it. The finale was when we trekked downwards to Tiger’s Nest from the mountain top, passing by the Bumdra monastery and slowly seeing the Tiger’s Nest from the top.

The accommodations outside Thimphu were also amazing – size, comfort, nice feelings and outside sceneries. I’m referring to Metta Resort, Dragon’s Nest, Dewachen and Richenling Lodge.

The only disappointment was that we were unable to have our breakfast at Uma Paro since we have an early flight. Its circular restaurant overlooking Paro is beautiful.

Next time, it’ll be more trekking for us.
