This vacation is a truly memorable one for us.

Kuzuzangpo La....

This vacation is a truly memorable one for us.

Tobgay, our guide has very good command of English, speaks clearly and is humorous. He is knowledgeable in the history of Bhutan and this made our visits to the Dzongs and monasteries enjoyable and enlightening. We also discover that he has a heart of gold. He is kind and compassionate -- this can be seen through the little things he did not only for us but for the people of Bhutan we met along the way.

Our driver Dawa is a great guy. He is quiet but friendly -- always have a smile for us. We were very fortunate to have him as our driver. He is very patient, always driving at a safe speed, giving ways to other road users and this made our ride with him super comfortable. Also, he always made sure that the van is sparkling clean both in-side and out.

We find the people of Bhutan very friendly and warm. The couple who prepared the hot stone bath for us at the farmhouse was generous and hospitable, offering to add more and more hot stones for us. The people who queue outside Paro Dzong to get a blessing from the Buddha’s relics have shy yet unreserved smiles for us. The lady who travelled from Punakha to Thimphu to sell her farm-grown guava gave us some fruits for free. On the way to a monastery, a child gave one of us wildflowers when we walked through the tiny but flourishing village bathed in the golden gleam of setting sun and harvested rice spread out to dry in the gentle autumn wind. We have many more wonderful encounters with the beautiful people of Bhutan that we would like to share with you, our families and friends.

Food was delicious. We love the fluffy red rice and the very crunchy-fresh vegetables. Curry eggplant was good, deep fried bitter gourd was good, chilli cheese was good especially the ones with sliced fresh mushrooms in it (one of us like it so much we even joke that she can live in Bhutan), fried noodles was good and baked potatoes was yummy yum yum. I especially enjoyed the picnics.

We enjoyed the hikes very much. We even caught sight of snow capped Himalayan peaks.

Last but not least, we would like to thank you for making our stay at Uma Paro possible. It is a beautiful hotel with wonderful service staff and facilities (we swamp in the heated indoor pool and used the steam room). Please give us a few days to settle down before making the payment for the hotel upgrade.

Once again, a big thank you to you and your team for making our visit to Bhutan a really wonderful and unforgettable one.
