We enjoyed the trip to Bhutan very much
Thanks for your email and interest in our recent Bhutan tour.
Yes, we enjoyed the trip very much, especially the great landscape, topography, the calm and peaceful scenery. They are out of this world! The weather at this time was comfortable and cool.
What we like most about this tour was the flexibility in the arrangement. Though we did have a planned itinery, we adjusted it day by day according to our likes. This is most suitable for a small family group like ours. Of course our guide/driver were extremely accommodating right through.
Indeed one day my son-in-law was not feeling well, and the guide immediately arranged for the driver to bring him to the hospital, while the rest of us did our tour. My son-in-law was treated very quickly (thanks to the driver's initiative to jump the long queue!) and he paid no medical charges! Bhutanese great service and hospitality.
The hotels we stayed in were very clean, well kept and equipped. Many of these were on the hills, offering great view and cool environment. The services of the hotel staff generally were very polite, helpful. We felt very well looked after.
We were most impressed and indeed surprise with the food arranged for us throughout the trip. Though there were not many varieties, especially meat and seafood, the cooking and the tastes were very good. I would say of very high quality and standard.
Our tour included several long and uphill trekking. Most of them were quite strenous and took several hours. I could not make most of them and did not participate. It was a pity because many of the beautiful temples are at the end of these long treks. So my wife and I missed out seeing the Tiger's nest! Perhaps the access to these hillside temples and historic buildings can be better improved to facilitate elder tourists getting there, without the trekking.
Of course it is understandable that most of the roads outside the town centres are narrow and bumpy because of the rough and stony surface. It was very uncomfortable doing the long trip on these roads. The improvement in these roads should be a high priority in the country's development.
Overall, my family and I felt we had a great relaxing holiday in Bhutan. We learnt a lot about its people, culture, arts, religion and the country as a whole. The costs of the land tour are reasonable. However, the airfare between Singapore and Bhutan is extremely high. If this cost can be made more economical, I believe more visitors will want to go see Bhutan.
Thank you, and we may consider going back there again, this time to the eastern part of the country. Attached is a group photo of us for your record.
