I would definitely recommend DrukAsia to friends and family
Kuzu Zangpo La.
My experience with DrukAsia started with the coordinator, Ugyen Dema, stationed in Singapore. I took reference from DrukAsia's suggested 10-Day itinerary and customised to my preferred 2-pax itinerary. During all my visits to the office, coordinator Ugyen Dema was patient in answering all questions and frank to counter propose suggestions that were not feasible to the itinerary.
The arranged guide and driver, Sangay and Chimi respectively, were both welcoming, professionals and knowledgeable. We felt safe at all times when Chimi was behind the wheels navigating narrow and winding roads up and down the mountains. Sangay was patient and accommodating. His explanations were thorough enough to understand. Both of them were friendly and approachable that we spent a night at Gangtey chatting over dinner till bedtime. Both are really proud to be working for DrukAsia. It’s definitely a pleasure having them as our guide and driver.
Bumdra trek was challenging due to it’s elevation. The king-size bed in the tent had 2 thick blankets to keep its occupants warm. It was rewarding to view and visit Paro Taktsang at the end of the trek.
Food at most of the arranged restaurants were good. You could request for local cuisine and the guide would gladly arrange it for you. Bhutanese love their chilli as so do Singaporeans. Can’t forget about Ema Datshi, Kewa Datshi and Ezay.
The selected 3-star accommodations were above our expectations. Special mention to ABC Lodge at Gangtey. Although without wifi amenity, it’s tranquil location lets one disconnect from the internet and reconnects with human interactions. Totally surprised to receive a connecting call from DrukAsia Singapore on the 2nd night in Thimphu, asking how’s everything so far. It was a very thoughtful gesture.
I would definitely recommend DrukAsia to friends and family who are interested to explore the once landlocked Bhutan.
