Elegant Seclusion and Warm Comfort

The eight-suite lodge is designed to immerse guests in the valley’s quiet rhythm. The combined Living and Dining Room features plush sofas and family-style tables that invite communal gatherings, all positioned before tall windows framing the valley’s endless beauty. Here, guests enjoy a comforting menu of Western and Bhutanese dishes, complemented by fine wines and local beverages. Spa facilities on the ground floor offer two treatment rooms and a serene space for unwinding after a day of exploration.

Suites with a View

Each of the eight suites mirrors Amankora’s signature Bhutanese-inspired design—an open-plan layout with a king-size bed, bukhari stove, daybed, and terrazzo-clad bath. Floor-to-ceiling windows offer uninterrupted views of the Phobjikha Valley, creating a cocoon of stillness and warmth.

Signature Experiences in Phobjikha

Soak in a Traditional Hot Stone Bath

Just a ten-minute walk from the lodge, a candlelit stone hut in Tokha village awaits. As the red-hot river stones heat your bath infused with local herbs, sip a warm cup of apple cider and watch the sun dip over the valley. The minerals in the stones and herbs soothe muscles and cleanse the spirit. Continue the experience with a spa massage upon return to the lodge (USD 150++ per bath; two guests per tub).

Wine and Dine in a Candle-Lit Potato Shed

For a truly romantic evening, dine amidst Bhutan’s rustic charm in a potato shed five minutes from the lodge. A traditional bukhari keeps the stone-walled space warm as candlelight dances across Bhutanese wooden furniture. Begin with ara (local liquor) by the bonfire before enjoying a homely Bhutanese meal accompanied by folk songs played on local instruments (USD 150++ per couple).

Indulge in a Hot Stone Massage

Surrender to the healing warmth of river stones applied to key pressure points. This 90-minute treatment relaxes tense muscles, improves circulation, and melts away emotional stress (USD 150++).

Cleanse Body, Mind, and Spirit with Buddhist Fumigation

Participate in a traditional morning ritual to dispel negativity and invite blessings. Selected herbs are burned in the lodge’s hilltop sangchoe (fumigation stupa) under the guidance of a monk (USD 70++ per ceremony).

Kite Flying in the Valley Breeze

The Phobjikha Valley’s open plains and gentle winds make it perfect for playful afternoons. Take one of the lodge’s handmade kites—shaped like dragons, frogs, or birds—and let it soar against the blue sky.

Offer a Meal to the Monks of Gangtey Monastery

Join a heartwarming act of generosity by offering lunch to the 120 young monks of Gangtey Goemba, home also to nine reincarnate lamas. Guests may assist the chef in purchasing local ingredients and take part in meal preparation before the offering ceremony at 11:30 am. (Donation: USD 150–250, depending on the number of monks in residence).

Where Stillness Meets the Sacred

Amankora Gangtey is a place of quiet wonder—where crisp mountain air clears the mind, the valley hums with spiritual energy, and moments of stillness linger long after your stay. Whether by the fireside, in the spa, or amidst the cranes’ gentle flight, this 5-star lodge offers a deeply moving connection to Bhutan’s heart and soul.
