This curated journey unveils Bhutan’s deep spirituality, vibrant culture, and untouched beauty—from the remote eastern frontiers to the iconic western valleys. Whether you’re wandering through centuries-old dzongs, hiking to sacred cliffside temples, or simply sharing laughter over a hearty meal with locals, this trip is designed to inspire awe, connection, and renewal.

All our tours are fully customisable — the itineraries you see are simply a starting point. We'll work closely with you to tailor every detail.

1 A Gentle Arrival in Thimphu

Touching down at Paro International Airport, you'll be greeted by your personal Bhutanese guide. After a scenic drive to the capital Thimphu, take the afternoon to settle in and adjust to the altitude with your first taste of traditional Bhutanese cuisine. Ease into the journey with a sunset visit to Buddha Dordenma, one of the largest bronze Buddha statues in the world, overlooking the valley. Stop by the Takin Preserve to glimpse Bhutan’s gentle and quirky national animal, before a relaxed evening walk through the charming streets of Thimphu.

2 Journey into the East – Paro to Trashigang

A short domestic flight whisks you to Yonphula, where you’ll drive down into the vibrant town of Trashigang. En route, visit Sherubtse College in Kanglung and, if time allows, stop at Zangtokpelri Monastery. In Khaling, watch young women mastering the art of vegetable dyeing and backstrap loom weaving at the National Handloom Centre. End your day at the historic Trashigang Dzong and enjoy the town’s warm, lively vibe.

3 To the Borderlands – A Day in Trashi Yangtse

Today’s journey leads you deeper east to Trashi Yangtse, a culturally rich region bordering Arunachal Pradesh. Stop at the sacred site of Gom Kora, visit Chorten Kora – inspired by Nepal’s Boudhanath – and browse the weavings in the village of Duksum. Or choose to stay back and enjoy a slower exploration of Trashigang town.

4 Crossing Valleys – Trashigang to Mongar

Depart westward toward Mongar. The road descends into the lush Kuri Chhu Valley, passing cornfields, rice terraces and groves of tropical fruits. As you arrive in Mongar, perched on a ridge, visit the 1930s Mongar Dzong – a stunning example of traditional Bhutanese architecture built without the use of nails or blueprints.

5 Into Central Bhutan – Mongar to Bumthang via Thrumshing La

The drive from Mongar to Bumthang is one of Bhutan’s most dramatic. Cross the lofty Thrumshing La Pass, Bhutan’s highest at 3,800m, and descend through changing forests into the spiritual heartland of Bumthang. Visit the cobbled village of Ura, thought to be one of Bhutan’s earliest settlements, and take in its quiet, medieval atmosphere.

6 Spirit and Story – Sacred Sites of Bumthang

Explore Bumthang, a region dotted with sacred monasteries and legends. Begin with a gentle hike to Tamshing Goemba, built by Pema Lingpa in 1501, then visit Kurjey Lhakhang where Guru Rinpoche left his body imprint. Discover Jambay Lhakhang, one of the oldest temples in Bhutan, and Jakar Dzong, perched high above the valley. End your day with a peaceful walk through Thangbi Valley to the 14th-century Thangbi Lhakhang.

7 The Burning Lake and Bhutanese Mysticism

Visit the sacred Mebar Tsho, or Burning Lake, where the mystic Pema Lingpa emerged from the depths holding relics and a still-burning butter lamp. This serene, spiritual site is surrounded by fluttering prayer flags and offers a moment of reflection beside its holy waters.

8 Royal Lineage – Bumthang to Gangtey via Trongsa

Drive to Gangtey via the historic town of Trongsa. Visit Trongsa Dzong, Bhutan’s largest fortress, and the nearby Taa Dzong, now a museum that chronicles Bhutan’s royal history. Continue westward into the Phobjikha Valley, a glacial valley famed for its black-necked crane sanctuary and peaceful, wide-open landscapes.

9 Valleys of Tradition – Gangtey to Punakha

Continue on to Punakha, stopping in Wangdue Phodrang to see the cacti-lined hillside below the dramatic Dzong. Explore the village of Rinchengang, known for its skilled stonemasons. In the afternoon, arrive in the lush valley of Punakha and check into your hotel surrounded by terraced rice fields and rivers.

10 Rivers and Reverence – Punakha’s Sacred Heart

Begin the day with a visit to Chimi Lhakhang, the fertility temple dedicated to the eccentric saint Drukpa Kunley. Then step into history at the magnificent Punakha Dzong, the winter residence of Bhutan’s monastic body. Walk across the longest suspension bridge in Bhutan, suspended high over the Pho Chhu River with breathtaking views of the valley.

11 Peace and Prayer – Dochula to Khamsum Yulley

Cross the scenic Dochula Pass, home to 108 chortens built to honour Bhutanese soldiers. On clear days, enjoy panoramic views of the eastern Himalayas. Return to Punakha to hike to the hilltop Khamsum Yulley Namgyal Chorten, a richly decorated structure built to bring peace and harmony to the world.

12 Culture and Craft – Immersion in Thimphu

Back in Thimphu, dive into Bhutan’s living culture with visits to the Folk Heritage Museum and National Textile Museum. Learn the art of papermaking, and stroll through the bustling Centenary Farmers’ Market. Stop by Simtokha Dzong, Bhutan’s oldest fortress, and pay your respects at the National Memorial Chorten. End your day at Changangkha Lhakhang, a 12th-century temple perched above the city.

13 Over the Pass – Chele La to Haa Valley

Discover the hidden valleys of Haa. Drive through Chele La Pass, Bhutan’s highest motorable pass, where you’ll enjoy dramatic views of snow-capped peaks. In Haa, explore the peaceful Katsho village and Katsho Lhakhang before returning to Paro for the evening.

14 Pilgrimage to the Tiger’s Nest

Hike to the iconic Taktsang Monastery, or Tiger’s Nest, Bhutan’s most revered spiritual landmark. Clinging to a cliffside 900m above the valley, this sacred site marks where Guru Rinpoche meditated after arriving on the back of a flying tigress. Afterwards, visit the haunting ruins of Drukgyal Dzong and end the day at Kyichu Lhakhang, one of Bhutan’s oldest temples and a portal to the kingdom’s spiritual origins.

15 Farewell for Now

As your Bhutanese journey comes to a close, take one last look at the misty mountains and prayer-flag-lined hills. Depart from Paro with a heart full of memories, blessings, and the promise to return to this land of quiet magic. Tashi Delek and safe travels.

Dear Dorji,

Kuzuzangpo la!
Our stay in Bhutan was really great. We had an amazing time. Thanks a lot for the effort finding a French speaking guide!
I'd like to use the opportunity to inform you about our driver and guide: They were absolutely wonderful, kind, knowledgeable, fun.
Pema's French is perfect and he's a great guide, Dorji is a great driver who looked after us with most kindness.
Just to let you know! I don't think we could have had a better team.

Here's two photos ... we didn't have yet the time to edit them but they're already good.. You can use them if you want. We can probably send you more lately if you'd like.

Best regards,
Christelle & Patrice

Dear Sonam,

We had a fantastic trip to Bhutan! We really appreciated the kindness of the people, the smile of the children, the general peacefulness and happiness even though the living conditions are sometimes tough especially in the mountains. We appreciated as well the religious feelings which are present everywhere and are part of the landscape with these so wonderful pray-flags and of course these temples and monasteries.

And we were fascinated by the landscape, the combination of the Himalayas Mountains scenarios and the man's work around the agriculture and construction of so nicely decorated house farms. Bhutan is an example within an agitated world where peace and happiness are in danger in so many places.

Dear Sonam ,

Kuzuzampo la,

Overall we are very happy with our stay in Bhutan. The program you gave us was perfect! It covered all our expectations and even more. Bhutan is very different from all the other countries we visited. As you know we had a difficult start. We think that you should give what you promise. When we arrived and we received an other guide and an other driver and an other car , we felt uncomfortable. High season may not be an excuse because we booked very early. The first guide gave us a very inexperienced impression and the second day he had big problems with his knee while walking. The second guide left us after one day because his wife was ill. Mr. Karma in Thimphu solved the problems and we are happy with the third guide.
