When Bhutan’s travel season winds down and the mountains turn serene once more, we don’t rest — we prepare. The off-season is a valuable time for learning, reflection, and growth. We organised a series of training programmes for our Bhutanese guides to refresh essential guiding skills and deepen our team’s understanding of Bhutan’s unique philosophy and culture, ensuring every traveller’s journey with us is safe, meaningful, and unforgettable.
Refresher in First Aid and Emergency Response
We began the programme with a first aid and emergency preparedness refresher, an essential part of guiding guests across Bhutan’s rugged terrain and high-altitude trails. Under the guidance of certified instructors, our team revisited key skills such as wound care, CPR techniques, altitude sickness management, and safe evacuation procedures. Strengthening these capabilities ensures that our guides can handle unexpected situations calmly and confidently, because guest safety will always be our top priority.
A Journey into the Heart of Happiness – Visiting the GNH Centre
Beyond safety, we also took time to reconnect with Bhutan’s spiritual and philosophical essence — Gross National Happiness (GNH). Our team visited the GNH Centre in Thimphu, where the guides relearn how Bhutan’s development philosophy interweaves with the Bhutanese culture, environment, and daily lives. These sessions reminded us why Bhutan is so unique and inspired us to share deeper, more meaningful stories with our guests — helping them experience the true heart of happiness that defines our country.
Capturing the Kingdom – Photography Training for Guides
We also understand how much travel is about storytelling and connection. To help our guides bring Bhutan’s beauty to life, we conducted a hands-on photography session led by professional photographers. Through lessons in composition, lighting, and framing, our team learnt how to capture Bhutan’s stunning landscapes, vibrant festivals, and everyday moments with authenticity. These skills not only enrich our own storytelling but also ensure that our guides help our guests in capturing photos they’ll treasure for a lifetime.
Continuous Learning, Exceptional Service
These off-season trainings reflect our unwavering commitment to excellence. By continuously investing in professional development, we ensure that every member of our guiding team — whether leading a cultural tour, a trekking adventure, or a private retreat — is fully equipped with the knowledge, empathy, and expertise to deliver experiences that go beyond expectations. At Druk Asia, guiding is a calling rooted in care, learning, and the joy of sharing Bhutan’s magic with the world.

Our dream trip: A personalized Bhutan tour with Druk Asia
My wife and I just returned from a 7-day tour of Bhutan, and it was truly unforgettable. We visited Thimphu, Punakha, Gangtey, Phobjikha Valley, and Paro - each place left us in awe. Bhutan is one of the safest and most peaceful countries we’ve ever visited.
We’re so grateful to our wonderful guide, Miss Chencho Lham, who shared Bhutan’s rich heritage with great care and adapted the tour’s pace for us. She even made sure I could enjoy bird photography during rafting and hikes. Special thanks to our driver, Mr. Kado, who skillfully navigated the mountain roads and helped us at every stop.
